We are pleased to announce the commencement of our sightseeing trip to the twin cities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad, starting from Rawal Dam. Traveling over the Karakoram Highway (the Eighth Wonder of the World) is an unmatched experience. We will stop at Besham for lunch and then have an overnight stay in Chilas. You will have a great view of Nanga Parbat (the Sleeping Beauty) and a brief stop at the junction point of the three great mountain ranges of the world (the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindu Kush) on our way to Gilgit.
A very busy day in Gilgit awaits. Near Gilgit is the Kargha Buddha, a 7th-century relic of the area’s Buddhist past, carved out of solid rock.
Driving to Karimabad, the beautiful giants of the Karakoram Mountains, such as Rakaposhi (7790 m), Diran Peak (7270 m), and Ulter Peak (7390 m), will leave you in awe. While journeying up to Khunjerab (the Pak-China border at 4730 m), the views of the Pamirs to the north, the Hindu Kush to the west, and the Karakoram to the south are spectacular.
